The Aspire N.I. Secondary Schools Project supports young people in Belfast from Free School Meal Entitlement (FSME) backgrounds, helping to close the educational attainment gap and raise aspirations. Delivered across five secondary schools, the project provides weekly after-school homework clubs where students receive support with coursework, revision, and study skills. Around 60 young people participate each year.
Alongside academic support, Aspire NI delivers skills academies such as art and football, as well as enrichment opportunities including a summer residential camp. An annual school uniform drive also helps families facing financial pressures, ensuring students feel confident and included in school life.
Funding has already made a clear difference, improving students’ confidence, engagement, and academic progress. The project currently operates in Hazelwood Integrated College, Breda Academy, Belfast Boys’ Model School, Ashfield Boys’ High School, and Ashfield Girls’ High School, with plans to expand into additional schools and reach even more young people.
