Bridge to Build (B2B) was established to support learners with Special Educational Needs (SEN) at South West College to progress into careers in construction and engineering. The project connects SEN learners with STEM employers, providing first-hand industry experience, mentorship, and practical support to help develop technical skills, workplace confidence, and pathways into meaningful employment.

Over the course of the project, B2B will engage 30 SEN learners and create at least 20 work placement opportunities with employers across the construction and engineering sectors. Dedicated SEN employment mentors provide personalised guidance, helping learners prepare for the workplace and build relationships with industry partners.

Funding has enabled the recruitment of three full-time mentors, who are now in place and supporting delivery of the programme. Engagement with learners and employers began in early 2026, offering students completing their courses the opportunity to take their first steps toward careers in construction and engineering.
