Northern Ireland Raspberry Jam has significantly enhanced its ability to deliver engaging, hands-on STEM education to children and young people thanks to funding received from The James Kane Foundation.
The funding enabled the purchase of modern computing hardware, expanding capacity across monthly events and transforming the workshop experience. This has also allowed volunteers to focus less on troubleshooting and more on what matters most: creating and delivering interactive, practical learning experiences. As a result, participants now benefit from better access to devices, smoother sessions, and more opportunities to explore current technologies in a supportive environment.
Returning attendees have noticed the difference, with many commenting that sessions are now faster, more intuitive, and more enjoyable on the new hardware.
A spokesperson said:
“This funding has had a direct and visible impact on our events, allowing more young people to take part in practical STEM activities and learn by doing. We’re extremely grateful for the support from the James Kane Foundation.”
This project highlights how targeted investment in the right equipment can unlock greater access, efficiency, and impact in grassroots STEM education.
